Battling Spam from Online Casinos

We’ve been going over how we can avoid online casino scams and how to fight casinos that offer lousy service. One thing we haven’t touched on that is just as irritating as any other online casino booboo is spam.

Spam comes from everywhere on the internet, but what is really irritating about spam from online casinos for me is that

Anyway as irritated as you and I may be spam still exists and there is nothing you can do except to take measures to prevent getting spammed. once spammers get a hold of your email address you can’t do anything except hope that your email provider has a pretty good spam filter.

To help you with your endless battle against spam from online casinos (although you can surely use this advice for any website you visit and subscribe to) here are some tips from yours truly.

  1. Be picky about the online casino you join. Obviously you don’t want to join any rogue casinos but even some casinos that offer otherwise good service are guilty of spamming. Make sure you read the online casino’s Privacy Policy before giving your email address. The policy should expressly states that they won’t spam you. If it doesn’t, move on and find a casino that has a “No Spamming” policy.
  2. Choose a casino that gives you the choice on whether you want to subscribe to their updates or not. Most casinos actually let you choose whether you want to subscribe to important updates or to their newsletter. Some casinos, however, automatically subscribe you and although the updates might be “useful” it is still unsolicited and feels like spam, especially if they are very enthusiastic in terms of newsletter frequency.
  3. Don’t subscribe to their newsletter. See number 2.
  4. Create a special email address for EACH casino you visit. Yes the emphasis on the word “each” is correct. Although many players actually have a special email address for joining online casinos (If you don’t and you use your work email address or your main email address you deserve to be spammed for being stupid.) what people don’t usually do is create a specific email address for each casino. Though it may seem unnecessary it is actually very useful for determining which casino sent the spam or divulged your email address. This is because no one will actually be able to send you spam to that specific address without the specific online casino’s consent since you haven’t used the email address for any other purpose. I recommend using your name in conjunction with the casino’s name as the email address and simply redirecting the email to an email you use more frequently. If you get spam in that email address you’ll know which casino is the cause.
