Case Study 3 - Bet-IE
An Independent Review of Bet-IE by R. Waterman.

Betting exchange trader R. Waterman bought Bet-IE a year ago when the program was first launched and we asked him to write an independent review of his experiences a year down the line...

Firstly let me say how much fun I am having using this software and how in the space of a year it has changed my outlook on betting completely. I used to be an old fashioned form book punter and straight win or each-way bets were my limit. Now, thanks to Bet-IE, I have a whole new approach to my daily betting and more importantly, Bet-IE has enabled me to make a healthy profit from my betting, something we all strive to do.

I started with Dutching as it is a technique most closely suited to my previous betting style, I started slowly and made a tentative profit. I read all of the information in the easy to follow Help Guide about waiting for the market data to match a strong winning chance (yes Bet-IE even indicates clearly strong races to Dutch!). Oh, and I forgot to mention, Bet-IE even indicates to you the most likely winners of each race - how good is that?

The thing I like with the Dutching function is that Bet-IE does all the calculations for me in the blink of an eye from the “live” market and all I have to do is click the Back button, Bet-IE has single click entry for fast submission of bets into the market place. I chatted to Nessie and Dave (the developers) who are always available and extremely friendly to chat with and will help in any way they can about getting the best from the software, should you need any help and advice.

Nessie recommended that I try and utilise the Reverse Odds function and Individual Profit Targets to help make my profits grow. So, after a couple of glitches, my stupidity really, I stuck with the technique and all of a sudden my Dutch's took on a new level of profit. If you just follow one simple piece of advice to start with and that is to zero any clear favourite of 3.5 or bigger your profits certainly benefit. Since then I have developed my own ideas and chat regularly in the forum with other users. A nice touch as you can chat in a friendly environment and all users have a common interest in making a profit with Bet-IE.

Since then Dave has introduced me to the technique of Dutching with Ratios and this is really good and so simple but extremely profitable. Let's say you are following a ratings service and the day's ratings indicate a strong winning chance on a particular horse or you just think a particular runner has a very strong chance on form you can simply add a ratio to your Dutch to weight the profit margin accordingly. Ask Bet-IE to refresh from the Live market and she calculates all your staking and returns, then when you are ready single click and the bets are in the market. It's really simple, but extremely fast and effective.

Then it was time to learn about Hedging and this was something that was completely foreign to me, so after reading the Help Guide it was time to try the technique in the live marketplace and Bet-IE didn't let me down. When I was chatting to Dave and Nessie they explained the technique may look complicated but was extremely simple and once mastered more importantly profitable. So I put my trust in Bet-IE and I started Hedging only small stakes at first and yes there were a few problems in the early days but with the help and support I received I could see the potential for profit. So this was now another string to my ever increasingly profitable bow on an afternoon's investing.

Then along came the feature that blew me away, the tick trader. Now like I say my betting had only been very basic, but this feature opened my eyes to all kinds of potential. The really excellent features I find are how simple to use it is, you just point and click, it's that simple!

The Auto Hedge feature and the Learning Mode are also fantastic additions. If you are a completely new user of the exchanges and especially to the world of Trading and want to learn how to trade you have got to try this.

In the Learning Mode function you can have all the features of the regular Trading function operating but Bet-IE records the bets instead of them being placed through to Betfair so you can make your mistakes without it costing you money, how good is that! Bet-IE will even offer you a prompt as to which way the trade should be started. Oh and I forgot to mention the accurate and easy to use Money meters and history to help make the vital prediction of the odds movement easier to spot. And, also as important, when a trend is about to reverse. This Trading feature is worth the purchase price alone.

Now we come to the exciting new feature, the Automatic Trigger function. Now this new feature is really easy to use and extremely clever and profitable. I like to use the feature to set up a trigger bet should a horse I fancy look like winning near the end of the race. I can set the odds that I expect a decisive run to show at and tell Bet-IE how much to place on the bet and leave Bet-IE monitoring the live In Running prices and at my chosen odds she triggers a bet automatically for me. If the odds are not reached no bet is placed, so I have an outstanding winning chance and an extremely high strike rate.

It doesn't end there though, if I wanted to set up an automatic trade position with the function I could very easily. Say I wanted to Back the draw in a football match and Lay at lower odds during In Running, Bet-IE can even do this no problem at all. This trigger has endless possibilities and your imagination is your only limit. A truly great addition to an already outstanding piece of software.

If you are a Layer of odds Bet-IE can offer you something too. In the Lay All feature she has the ability to Lay multiple runners in an event to global odds and global stake, or you can set a Maximum Global liability or maybe the really good feature - Individual Liabilities - to select on multiple runners in an event. Again a really flexible function to create profitable situations from.

I should stress that Bet-IE is a tool to help you get the best from the exchanges, but it is not a magic lamp that you just rub and your profit builds. What I would say is Bet-IE is excellent value for money, extremely easy to use, flexible in its approach to a days racing or sports markets, features proven winning strategies and has excellent email support. I think this software is something that all Betfair users should use and believe me you won't look back, I haven't.
