Taunton Horse Racing Tips

A busy Thursday in store with four UK meetings plus a jumps card in Ireland. The best quality meeting is definitely at Taunton where strangely with all the wet weather recently it has produced perfect jumping ground for today and there are some good races.

It begins at 1.20pm with a Novice Hurdle over the middle distance of 2 miles 3 furlongs and sets us quite a puzzle to solve. That is we have a strong short priced favourite who fell last time out. The horse is the Paul Nicholls trained Dualla Lord who ran second at Chepstow before suffering a crashing fall last time out. That was however over fences and it’s interesting that the Champion trainer is bringing him back over hurdles straight away.

This may well be to get his confidence back before going back over fences, but a horse’s confidence can be quickly dented by falls and even though this is over hurdles I’m keen to take Dualla Lord on. The experienced Theatrical Star will have his followers but looks exposed to me and has had plenty of chances. So the horse I suggest is worth an investment in today’s race is Nelson’s Bridge who is making his debut over hurdles this afternoon.

Nelson’s Bridge has only been seen once on a racecourse and that was in a bumper at Bangor where he could not have been more impressive as he toyed with his rivals. He is held in high regard by his trainer Nicky Henderson and will be ridden by the excellent Andrew Tinkler. His sire Oscar oozes both class and stamina so the trip will be no problem and with Bet365 offering 11/4 this looks like being an excellent start to the days punting.
